The Ukrainian Grieg Society

The Ukrainian Grieg Society was founded in Zhytomyr, Ukraine in May 2016 and works under the auspices of Viktor Kosenko Zhytomyr Music College. The goal of the Society is to promote culture in Zhytomyr and Ukraine, Norwegian music, in particular the works of Edvard Grieg, scientific researches in this area, as well as to establish cultural dialogue between Ukraine, Norway and other countries.

The main tasks of the Ukrainian Grieg Society are

– creative, research and educational activities;
– organization of concerts, music festivals, competitions, seminars, workshops and conferences;
– arranging meetings with composers, artists, scientists, teachers and students from Ukraine, Norway and other countries and their exchange of experience;
– developing facilities of musical schools and their efficient use; as well as getting and keeping in contacts with other associations of citizens, including foreign and international ones.

The Zhytomyr Music College was founded in 1905 and named after the Ukrainian pianist and composer Viktor Kosenko. The College has been the center of musical culture of the city and is a platform for holding International Festival of Artists, Sviatoslav Richter International Competition for Young Pianists, Musical Spring Zhytomyr International Festival.
